Indications for Use

The High Arm Sling can be used to treat a wide range of hand, wrist, arm and shoulder related problems. As the High Arm Sling is adjustable, it can be adjusted specifically to the user's needs, converting between a hand and arm immobiliser to shoulder immobiliser when required. The immobilising design makes it ideal for recovery, making it suitable for the recovery from a wide range of injuries and problems including:

  • Surgery to the arm, shoulder or wrist
  • Trauma to the arm, shoulder or wrist
  • Breaks to the arm, shoulder or wrist

  • Sprains to the arm, shoulder or wrist
  • Cerebro Vascular Accidents (CVA)
  • Paralysis
  • Broken collarbone

How Do You Use the High Arm Sling?

The High Arm Sling can be adjusted depending on the size of the user or the injury. Adjusting the sling is easy and you can do it yourself from home. If you would like to understand how to use the sling, please see the below instructions.

  1. Place the injured arm into the sling, ensuring the elbow is held securely in place.
  2. Whilst holding the sling in a closed position, attach the securing strap to the front of the sling and fold over to secure.
  3. To attach the D-Ring strap, ensure it is positioned 5-7cms up from the patients wrist. Fold over to secure, ensuring that the side facing D-ring is positioned on the inside of the sling.
  4. Place the shoulder strap over the uninjured shoulder and feed through the D-ring attachment, securing the strap firmly with the Velcro fastening and adjust the height as required.

How To Use the High Arm Sling as a Shoulder Immobiliser

To use this high arm sling as a shoulder immobiliser, follow the below instructions:

  1. Attach the immobilisation strap to the front of the High Arm Sling 3-5cms away from the securing strap.
  2. Place the immobilisation strap around the back of the waist.
  3. Feed the immobilisation strap through the side facing the D-ring and secure with the Velcro fastening.

How Do You Adjust the High Arm Sling?

Adjusting the High Arm Sling is incredibly easy, and works by adjusting the height when you feed the strap through the D-ring attachment found on the top of the sling. The Velcro promises a secure fit, and ensures that the sling will not loosen during use.

Who is the High Arm Sling For?

As the High Arm Sling can be adjusted, it is extremely versatile and can be used easily by a wide range of different people. It can be used by sportspeople after injury, teenagers recovering from breaks, and the elderly who may be suffering from stiffness in their shoulder or elbows. Its adjustable design is easy to use, and well suited to anyone recovering from arm related problems.

Why Should I Trust the High Arm Sling?

The High Arm Sling is designed using durable materials that are specifically made to ensure that your arm is held in a secure and firm position. It's extremely comfortable too and as a result has become a sling best seller, with users reviewing that the High Arm Sling has aided in recovery. One reviewer even argues that the sling is "more comfortable than the NHS issue."

Should I Wear the Sling as an Arm Sling or Shoulder Immobiliser?

If you are unsure of whether the sling should be worn as an arm sling or shoulder immobiliser, then we would recommend asking your GP or a health professional. A common rule of thumb is that injuries around the shoulder, upper arm and collarbone are best treated with a shoulder immobiliser, while injuries on the lower arm, wrist and hand are better suited with an ordinary arm sling.

Will My Arm Move While Wearing the High Arm Sling?

It is designed to prevent your arm, hand and shoulder from moving during use. While the shoulder strap helps you to raise the sling into a position of your choosing, a waist strap offers additional security and prevents the movement of the arm. You can also tighten the sling to ensure that no movement is possible while retaining comfort.

How Does the High Arm Sling Aid in Recovery?

The High Arm Sling aids in recovery because it prevents movement of key areas while holding your hand in a raised position. By providing stabilisation and preventing movement, you can help the injured area start to heal. The waist strap that is supplied with the sling prevents further movement too, helping to lower the risk of aggravating the injury further.

How Comfortable is the High Arm Sling?

The lining of the sling contains foam and nylon, meaning that is breathable to wear during use. This helps to ensure that the sling is more hygienic, while also preventing your hand and arm from overheating and becoming uncomfortable. As a result the sling is comfortable to use and won't result in discomfort during extended use.

Which Arm is the High Arm Sling For?

The universal design of the High Arm Sling means that it can be used for both arms, making your purchase highly convenient and worth keeping after the user has recovered. The versatility does not stop there, with the adjustable positioning of the sling making it suitable for treating a variety of conditions stretching from your fingers to your collarbone.

How Do I Care For the High Arm Sling?

Caring for your sling can ensure longevity and improve hygiene. You can ensure this by following these four bullet points.

  • Wash periodically by hand with a damp cloth and mild soap (temperature no more than 40°C)
  • Use a towel to absorb most of the dampness and then allow to dry at room temperature
  • Do not hand up, or iron and do not expose to direct heat sources such as stoves, heaters, radiators and direct sunlight
  • Do not expose to alcohol, ointments or solvents

What is the High Arm Sling Made From?

The High Arm Sling is designed using a breathable foam and nylon laminate construction that is both comfortable and breathable to use. The entire sling is latex free, meaning that it is suitable for those with sensitive skin.

Sling
21 September 2023  |  Angela

This sling is very comfortable, once on you feel immediate relief. I've given a 4 star as iI felt it would benefit from a plastic buckle on the straps as pulling on the velcro was annoying and difficult. Different lengths would help, I'm small and my sling was way too long even rolled back. Overall, I would buy again and recommend it.

Just what was needed
08 July 2021  |  Catherine

I needed a high arm sling following a wrist operation and this does the job perfectly. I had to shorten the shoulder strap as far as it would go in order to keep my wrist elevated and the velcro can be a little tricky with my left hand, but it is so much better than struggling with the cloth sling I was given. I just use it for going for walks outside now because I'm able to rest my arm in it and it makes me feel secure outside.

Excellent product
18 February 2021  |  Lucy

I bought this for my broken wrist which needed to be elevated to prevent swelling. It's very supportive, easily adjustable to the correct height by velcro especially useful when using only one hand and very well constructed. It can also be adjusted for your arm to be in a horizontal position suitable for other arm injuries. It was delivered on a Monday after ordering on Friday and I was kept up to date about its delivery. I can recommend this product.
