What Is the Purpose Of the CPAP Machine?

CPAP machines function to assist those with sleep apnoea and similar disorders. This device can be used by those with either Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) or Central Sleep Apnoea (CSA), and is suitable for those who need help clearing obstructions and keeping the airways open during sleep.

Please note: It is vital that you check with your doctor that CPAP is a suitable treatment for you before using this device.

How Does the iX Sense CPAP Machine Work?

The motor in the unit of the iX Sense CPAP Machine pushes a steady flow of pressurised air through the tube and mask connected to the machine to push against any blockages in the airways. This helps to open the airways and facilitate regular, comfortable breathing. Unlike the iX Auto, this device does not have an auto-on function. You will need to turn on the machine manually, using the touchpad on the device, to begin treatment.

Which Masks Are Compatible With This Device?

Masks are not sold with this unit, but are a necessary attachment for the unit to function. Masks you can use with this model include:

What's the Difference Between the Sense CPAP Device and Auto CPAP Device?

The biggest difference between these devices is how they are able to connect. With the iX Auto CPAP Machine there are options for 4G enabled devices. The iX Sense CPAP Machine, however, has a Wi-Fi enabled version but no 4G enabled model.

Other differences include that the Auto CPAP Device features both a CPAP mode and APAP mode, whereas the Sense CPAP Device can only be used in CPAP mode. The Auto Device is also able to be used with a heating tube, but this accessory is not available for the Sense model. There is also a difference in pressure increment for each device, being 0.5cmH20 for the iX Sense and 0.2cmH20 for the iX Auto.

How Do I Set Up My Sense CPAP Machine and Humidifier?

This CPAP machine can be installed in three simple steps. The first step is to find a flat surface near your bed to put the machine on. Once it is in place, plug the power connector into the rear of the unit and then plug the adaptor into the electrical outlet. The final step is to attach a connecting tube to the airflow outlet on the machine, and attach the other end of this tube to your CPAP mask (sold separately).

How Do I Clean the CPAP Machine?

The component of this CPAP machine that will require regular and thorough cleaning is the humidifier. This should be checked and cleaned after every use to prevent the growth of potentially harmful germs and bacteria. Make sure to disconnect the CPAP unit, humidifier, and water chamber before cleaning.

DO NOT use water on the CPAP unit. If you need to clean the machine, use a clean cloth dampened with a mild detergent and water solution, and gently wipe the casing.

To clean the humidifier:

  1. Start by cleaning the outside of the water chamber, which you can do by wiping it with a cloth dampened with warm water and a mild detergent.
  2. Once the outside is clean, open the chamber and pour out any water.
  3. Wash the inside of the chamber with warm water and a mild detergent.
  4. Once it has been cleaned, rinse the chamber out and allow it to air dry in a clean area.
  5. Ensure that is placed out of the way of direct sunlight and heat, and that the product is fully dry before your next use.
  6. When it is dry, you should check for any damage to any of the parts and replace as necessary.

Why Is the CPAP Machine Wi-Fi Enabled?

The Wellell iX series CPAP Machine has models available with just 4G, and models available with 4G and Wi-Fi. This allows them to be connected to the Easy Compliance M or SleepWell app, which can be used for self-monitoring and for monitoring by medical professionals. Being able to monitor your treatment allows easy assessment of its effectiveness, making crafting the ideal treatment plan simpler.

The iX sense has a Wi-Fi enabled option, as well as a base unit without Wi-Fi or 4G features.
