What is Ulnar Deviation?
Ulnar deviation, also known as ulnar drift, is a hand condition where the knuckle bones, or metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joints, become swollen and cause the fingers to bend abnormally toward the little finger. It is a result of inflammation weakening the surrounding tendon structures.
What Causes Ulnar Deviation of the Fingers?
While the most common cause of ulnar deviation of the fingers is rheumatoid arthritis, it can also be caused by other conditions such as windblown hand or Jaccoud's arthropathy.
How Does the Jura Ulnar Deviation Splint Help?
The Jura Ulnar Deviation Splint helps straighten moderate to strongly deviated fingers to make it easier to use your hands for everyday activities. It keeps the fingers in place and prevents them from moving outwards.
What Makes This Ulnar Deviation Splint Exceptional?
The three most common complaints about orthoses designed to correct ulnar deviation are that they're too bulky, that they introduce painful pressure points and that they cause functional loss, which makes daily tasks more difficult. This hand support has been designed to address these common issues, as it is lightweight, distributes pressure evenly to help reduce pain, and leaves your fingers unrestricted for improved manual dexterity.
How Comfortable Is This Ulnar Deviation Hand Splint?
This Ulnar Deviation Splint has been designed for comfort. The ventilated neoprene helps the skin to breathe, reducing sweat build-up and preventing skin maceration. The towel liner is remarkably soft and provides the level of comfort necessary for extended wear over longer periods of time.
