How Does the SleepCube Work?
The motor in the SleepCube generates pressurised air, which is delivered through a tube to your mask. This air is then carried down your airways to prevent your throat from closing, in turn reducing the risk of an apnoea.
The SleepCube AutoPlus is a APAP machine, which means that the air pressure is automatically adjusted in response to apnoeas, hypopnoeas, and snoring, helping you to receive optimal pressure settings while you sleep. If you require a constant air pressure as prescribed by your doctor, please see our range of DeVilbiss SleepCube CPAP Machines for continued positive airway pressure machines. Please see the DeVilbiss SleepCube user manual in the PDF below for further details about assembling and using your SleepCube.

Can I Use the DeVilbiss SleepCube?
The SleepCube is designed for individuals suffering from obstructive sleep apnoea. It is suitable for patients weighing 30kg (66lb) and above.
Please note that the SleepCube is not suitable if your upper airway has been bypassed.
What Is Obstructive Sleep Apnoea?
Obstructive sleep apnoea, or OSA, is a breathing condition that involves the throat narrowly closing during sleep, which in turn inhibits breathing. The sudden pauses in breath can occur as few as five times per hour at night, with more severe cases seeing 30 or more apnoeas per hour.
What Is APAP?
APAP stands for automatic positive away pressure. APAP is a delivery of pressurised air to the throat and nose that adjusts automatically in response to apnoeas, hypopnoeas, and snoring. This helps the airways to stay open while you sleep.
The pressurised air is provided through the use of an APAP mask (more commonly referred to as a CPAP mask). These can be worn as either a full-face APAP mask or a nasal APAP mask, allowing you to treat your OSA in the most comfortable way possible.
Is a Sleep Apnoea Mask Included?
Due to the individual preferences for different styles of sleep mask, a sleep apnoea mask is not included with the SleepCube. However, you can purchase a full face mask or nasal mask to ensure optimal comfort.
How Easy to Use Is the SleepCube AutoPlus Machine?
The SleepCube AutoPlus is very easy to use. Simply put on your APAP mask, then either press the ON button on the SleepCube or take a few breaths to turn on the airflow automatically. There is no need to adjust any settings before each use.
How Does the SleepCube AutoPlus Differ to the SleepCube Standard?
The SleepCube AutoPlus is a slightly more advanced APAP machine than the SleepCube Standard, as it includes the SmartFlex feature. SmartFlex reduces pressure when you exhale for more comfortable breathing at night.
How Does SmartFlex Provide Expiratory Relief?
SmartFlex works by lowering the pressure when you exhale. The pressure returns to your prescribed pressure during inhalation to ensure your therapy is maintained.
There are three settings for SmartFlex pressure relief, allowing you to set the SmartFlex feature to offer the level of relief you require. If at any point you do not wish to use SmartFlex, it can be turned off as you require.
How Does the SmartCode Technology Work?
The included SmartCode Technology encodes usage data that can be easily decrypted and analysed online. It monitors the usage of the machine while you sleep, and this information can be accessed online, and is particularly useful for sending to your doctor.
Can I Use the SleepCube at Home?
Absolutely! The SleepCube APAP Machine is designed to be compact and quiet, allowing you to use it at home conveniently. This makes it particularly ideal if you share a bedroom, as it won't take up much room and your partner will not be disturbed by the noise.
Can I Travel with the SleepCube?
The lightweight and compact nature of the Auto-Adjusting SleepCube makes it ideal for travel. It weighs just 1.22kg (2.7lb), and is quiet during use, meaning you can use it in a hotel without worrying about disturbing other guests.
The multi-voltage capability of the DeVilbiss SleepCube AutoPlus Machine means that it can be used virtually anywhere in the world. It can also be operated from a 12V DC power source such as those frequently found in motor homes.
How Easy Is It to Sleep with the APAP Machine?
The SleepCube has been designed to ensure you can get off to sleep as easily as you would without using the machine. This is because it features a comfort delay, which produces initial airflow at a low pressure, before gradually increasing the pressure to the prescribed pressure over the last few minutes of your specified delay time.
How Quiet Is the SleepCube?
The SleepCube features a low-sound pressure level of 26dBA (26 A-weighted decibels). This means it is incredibly quiet, and therefore ideal for use when you share a room and don't wish to disturb anybody.
Can the SleepCube Test for Sleep Apnoea?
While the SleepCube should not be used in the first instance to test for sleep apnoea without prior guidance from a medical professional, it can help you to continue to manage the condition following a diagnosis. In order to find out whether or not you are suffering from sleep apnoea, you will need to consult your doctor or other medical professional.
Your doctor will guide you through the test to help you assess where you are on the apnoea hypopnea index (AHI), which determines whether you suffer from no apnoea, or mild, moderate, or severe apnoea. Once you have received your diagnosis, you may prefer to invest in the SleepCube APAP Machine with the foresight that you will be able to continue to receive the OSA treatment both when at home or away.
How Do I Prevent a Dry Throat and Nose When Using the APAP Machine?
If you suffer from a sore or dry throat and nose when using the SleepCube APAP Machine, an optional humidifier can be purchased to affix to your SleepCube. This is a device that fits to the APAP to heat and moisten the airflow, making therapy more comfortable.
How Do I Clean the SleepCube?
To clean the main SleepCube device, unplug it from the power source, and then wipe it with a clean, damp cloth every few days. The device must be allowed to completely dry before plugging it back into the power supply.
Please note that the SleepCube must never be rinsed with or placed in water. Liquids must never get into or around the ports, switches, or air filter. The PDF below provides further information.

How Often Do I Change the Filters?
The air-inlet filter should be checked every 10 days and cleaned as necessary. It must be removed from the frame, then washed in a solution of warm water and dishwashing detergent. If the filter becomes damaged, a replacement air-inlet filter must be purchased.
If you use an optional fine particle filter (not included), this must be inspected regularly. It should not be washed, and therefore must be replaced if damaged. Spare fine particle filters are available for purchase.
What Length of Tubing Can I Use with the SleepCube?
The SleepCube can be used with the standard 6ft tubing. It can also be used with the 10ft tubing for improved convenience.
Can I Receive Supplemented Oxygen At Night with the SleepCube?
Yes, supplemental oxygen can be added with the optional oxygen adaptor attached between the unit and tubing. It can also be added if the mask is equipped with an oxygen port directly to the mask.
Am I Eligible for VAT Relief?
The SleepCube may be eligible for VAT relief. Please contact our customer service team for more information.
