How Does the Mini Nebuliser Work?
Nebulisers are useful tools that facilitate the treatment of pulmonary illnesses by delivering vapourised medicines directly to the lungs. This compression nebuliser works by forcing air through a chamber or cup filled with liquid medicine.
This chamber is attached to the nebuliser unit, and connected to its compressor via plastic tubing. The other end of this plastic tubing will be connected to an air flow outlet. During this process liquid medicine is transformed into a fine mist, which can be inhaled through a mouthpiece connected to the unit.
Who Is the Nebuliser For?
The compression nebuliser is ideal for patients with illnesses that impact the lungs and airways. Common treatments this unit is used to dispense include antibiotics, medical grade saline solutions, and bronchodilators. Those who may find the nebuliser useful include:
- Patients with chronic pulmonary illnesses, such as COPD, cystic fibrosis, and bronchiectasis
- Asthmatics
- Patients receiving palliative care

How Should the Portable Nebuliser Be Used?
Before using the Portable Nebuliser, ensure that the unit is clean. We recommend cleaning the machine before the first use and following every use after this to avoid contamination. To operate the machine once it is clean, follow the below instructions:
First, place the compressor nebuliser onto a smooth, flat surface. Then plug the adaptor on the unit into an electrical outlet. Once the machine is plugged in, connect one end of the plastic tubing to the air outlet of the unit (as seen in the image below).
Next, fill the medicine chamber with the necessary dose of liquid medicine, and assemble the chamber so that it is sealed and has the mouthpiece attached. Once assembled, connect the other end of the plastic tubing to the bottom of the medicine chamber. A fully set up unit should look something like the image below. Please note that this image does not feature the adaptor which should be plugged into this machine.
The compressor is now ready to be turned on using the On/Off switch on the unit. Once the machine is on, put the mouthpiece in your mouth and breathe normally until you have taken the whole dose.
Please note: this machine should not be used continuously for more than 30 minutes. When stopping treatment, switch the power switch on the machine off before unplugging it. To find out more about the operation, maintenance, and cleaning of the Wellell Nebuliser, see the video below.
How Often Should the Unit Be Cleaned?
Cleaning the Wellell Mini Nebuliser is a simple task that is important to keep on top of. Regular cleaning of the unit will prevent the growth of bacteria and germs that could potentially worsen your illness or symptoms. We recommend cleaning the tubing, mouthpiece, and medicine chamber before the first use and after every use to ensure optimal hygiene standards.
How Should the Unit Be Cleaned?
It is particularly important to ensure that the mouthpiece, tubing, and chamber are clean and free from germs and bacteria. These pieces will need to be removed from the unit and separated from each other in order to be thoroughly cleaned. Use warm water and a diluted neutral detergent to clean the mouthpiece, tubing, and medicine chamber. Once they are clean, shake off any excess water and let the pieces air dry. Store the mouthpiece, tubing, and chamber in a clean area and ensure that they are fully dry before your next use.
Should the Filter Be Replaced?
The Wellell Mini Nebuliser also features a filter, which you can find just above the on switch and next to the air outlet. This filter will need to be changed regularly to prevent the build-up of germs and bacteria. The unit does not come with extra filters, so these will need to be purchased separately.
Please Note
It is not possible to thoroughly clean the inside of the tubing, so it is important to replace this part regularly. Do not use water on the nebuliser unit. The machine does not feature a water-resistant design and should not come into contact with water or detergent. Instead, when needed simply wipe the unit with an antibacterial wipe.
