How Do I Use the Small Bone Caliper?
To take a patient's measurements with the Small Bone Caliper, follow the instructions below:
- Take measurements from the right side of the body with all clothing pulled back from the area.
- Before measuring, clearly identify the scope of the measurement area.
- Grip the ends of the caliper's C-shaped branch with the caliper arms resting on the healthcare professional's forearms.
- Move the arms of the branches to the desired length, then read the scale on the base of the caliper (to the nearest cm).
Cleaning Instructions
To ensure the caliper is kept clean and hygienic and prevent cross contamination between patients, it can be washed with soap and water then wiped dry with a gentle cloth, however it should never be dunked in water or exposed to a harsh cleaning product like bleach. For quicker cleans between thorough washes, it can also be disinfected with isopropyl alcohol wipes.
