Acumar Dual Digital Inclinometer

The Acumar Dual Digital Inclinometer is an advanced medical device designed to accurately measure the angles of joints to aid diagnosis and treatment of conditions. Designed to provide a quicker and more objective method of assessing patient's range of motion, this set includes a main unit and a companion unit which can be used together to take measurements of various parts of the body including the spine. For maximum efficiency, the devices automatically calculate and store patient results, which can then be sent to a chosen computer for display and storage.

What's Included In My Purchase?

  • 1 x Digital inclinometer
  • 1 x Companion unit
  • 1 x Connecting cable
  • 1 x Case

What is an Inclinometer?

Inclinometers are devices for measuring the angle of an object or person in comparison to a pre-set reference point, or gravity. Medical professionals can use inclinometers to assess the range of a patient's movement in different parts of their body, including the flexion or extension of certain joints. This can help them determine the extent of a condition, and the next steps for intervention.

Why Should I Choose the Dual Digital Inclinometer?

The Acumar Dual Digital Inclinometer was created specifically to cater to medical professionals who wanted a more straightforward and objective method of taking readings and storing patient data. Due to its versatile, user-friendly design, and its wireless capabilities, it is one of the most advanced and accurate inclinometers currently available on the market.

Wireless Data Capabilities

The Acumar Digital Inclinometer is the first inclinometer to enable wireless transferring of data to computers. For optimal accuracy and objectivity of readings, it has its own microprocessor which calculates the range of motion of a patient's joints, then displays these on any PC the healthcare professional chooses.

Key Features and Benefits of the Acumar Digital Inclinometer

  • Measures the range of movement of joints including spinal subluxation, and cervical spine flexion and extension
  • Digital LCD screen is easy to see and read
  • HOLD function freezes reading so you don't have to record it manually
  • Features large liquid crystal display readout
  • Allows for 360° measurement range (Displays this above or below 180°)
  • For versatile use, you can choose whether you want measurements to be gravity or reference based
  • Can be used to store a number of measurements
  • Stored data can be retrieved manually or sent wirelessly to a computer

How Does the Dual Inclinometer Work?

The Dual Inclinometer has a main unit and a companion unit which are connected via a cable. When these are connected, it reads the angles of both units and uses these to automatically calculate the angle of a patient's joint. It does this by subtracting the value of the main unit from that of the companion unit.

How Reliable Is the Dual Inclinometer?

Offering outstanding objectivity and reliability compared to most manual measurement methods and analogue devices, the dual inclinometer can benefit any healthcare professional assessing the motion range of patients. As with most digital inclinometers, the Dual Inclinometer displays readings in 1° increments for precision and more intuitive use, however it also calculates the results of the patient itself, helping to lower the risk of human error and improve the accuracy of the outcome.

How Do I Use the Dual Inclinometer?

The Dual inclinometer is designed to provide accurate, objective readings of the angles of a patient's joints, and their range of movement. Consisting of a main unit and a companion unit connected by a cable, this inclinometer is especially useful for taking measurements of the spine. For example follow the instructions below, to take a measurement of the natural forward bending of the spine, or its flexion:

  1. Hold the main unit against the top of the patients head (specifically their calvarium) and the companion unit against the lower portion of the neck (specifically the T1 spinous process).
  2. Press the start button on the main unit.
  3. When neck of the patient is upright, or in a 'neutral' position, press the zero button.
  4. Wait until the individual bends their head as far forward as they can, then press the hold button to capture the maximum flexion angle (this angle is calculated by subtracting the main unit's value by the value of the companion unit).
  5. Allow the patient to return to an upright position, then repeat steps 3 and 4 between two to five times to ensure results are within the necessary validity criteria of  ±5° or 10%.
