What Are the Benefits of the VacuAide 7314 Quiet Suction Unit?

Its intuitive operation makes it perfect for use by non-professional and professional carers alike, with patients at home, in public, or in professional medical settings.

See for Yourself

If you're still wondering what the VauAide 7314 can do for you, take a look at the video below:

Is This a Hygienic Device?

Several measures have been taken to ensure that the VacuAide 7314 is extremely hygienic for use in medical contexts. It includes an internal float shutoff switch and a splash guard to prevent fluid from escaping the canister, and its integrated bacterial filter helps to further protect the internals of the device from becoming contaminated.

The 800ml canister supplied by default is for single patient use only, but it can be washed in between uses by that patient. In cases where the patient represents an infection risk to the practitioner, it is advisable to use the Flovac Liner System.

Features of the VacuAide 7314 Quiet Suction Machine

For reliable and effective aspiration, the VacuAide 7314 is equipped with the following:

  • Single power switch and pressure dial – for easy and intuitive operation, with a precise and accurate pressure readout
  • Very quiet operation – more comfortable for both patient and practitioner and allows for subtle public use
  • High performance capabilities – up to 550mmHg suction and 27 l/min fluid flow
  • Low minimum vacuum strength – strength of 50mmHg allows for neonatal use
  • Small, lightweight design – allows the unit to be transported easily and carried in public discreetly
  • Integrated bacterial filter – prevents contamination of device between patients and ensures long-term function
  • Automatic float shut-off – allows for additional ease of mind during use by preventing effluent overflow
  • Rechargeable battery – generates up to 60 minutes of continuous run-time per charge
  • Automatically recharges when plugged in – so the device is ready whenever you need it
  • Supplied with two chargers – for mains charging and DC charging directly from a vehicle

How Does the Canister Work?

The standard 800ml collection jar has been designed to minimise the risk of back-flow from the jar into the suction unit itself. It includes an automatic shut-off float, which stops the machine when the fluid has risen above a certain level, and an internal splash-guard to keep fluid within the canister. It is for single-patient use only, and should be disposed of between users.

Is There a Larger or Re-Usable Canister Available?

A 1200ml canister, sold as an optional alternative, can be used instead of the 800ml canister. Not only does this option feature a larger volume, it is also autoclavable, allowing you to sterilise it in-between patients. This almost completely eliminates the need to replace the canister.

What Is the Flovac Disposable Liner System?

While a standard canister reduces the risk of spillage or cross contamination, for patients who represent an infection risk to the practitioner or to other patients it is advisable to utilise more stringent infection control routines. The Flovac Liner System utilises fully-sealed, disposable collection-jar liners, which can be disposed of in your medical waste disposal system without any risk of spilling or leaking effluent.

What Are the Applications for This Suction Machine?

The powerful and variable suction of this machine – between 50mmHg and 550mmHg – holds utility across the medical, dental and veterinary fields, as well as paediatric and neonatal applications. It is most often utilised, however, in primary and secondary care contexts for these three procedures:

  • Oral suction
  • Tracheal suction
  • Nasal suction

Is This Suction Appropriate for Neonatal Care?

Yes, this device has a low minimum pressure of 50mmHg. This means it is safe to use on neonatal and paediatric patients.

What Are the Benefits of the Carry Case?

Particularly for patients who need to make use of suction several times throughout the day, a carry bag can make the VacuAide much more convenient to carry around and more discrete in public locations. Made from sturdy canvas, this reliable custom-designed bag features all the pockets you need to transport your full suction apparatus. The carry bag for the 7314 unit has been designed to allow use of the device without removing the unit, making public use much more discreet – particularly when combined with the Quiet Suction Unit's uniquely quiet operation.

When Should I Replace the Filter?

Since the filter is designed to keep bacteria from contaminating or damaging your device, it is vital that you change it regularly. It should be changed in any of the following situations:

  1. If it becomes wet (in which case it will immediately close up)
  2. In between patients/ when disposing of a canister
  3. When it swells up and blocks the tube

If the device is being used for the same patient this should be approximately every six weeks, but can vary significantly depending on use.

Which Care Contexts Is the VacuAide 7314 Quiet Suction Unit Appropriate For?

While its suction is appropriate for a wide range of medical applications that can be useful across the sector, this suction machine is most popular at the primary care level, including care carried out regularly at home. Because this machine is quieter and more subtle than alternatives, it is much easier to use in public – ideal for patients who need to use the device very often through the day.

Are There Any Other Models of DeVilbiss Suction Machine Available for Purchase?

We stock another, slightly more basic model of DeVilbiss Suction Machine. The DeVilbiss VacuAide 7305 Portable Suction Machine (sometimes referred to as the grey unit) is an older but more economical alternative to the 7314 model (sometimes called the blue unit). It has a slightly less precise pressure control, is slightly noisier and is not appropriate for neonatal applications.

What Are the Key Differences Between the DeVilbiss VacuAide 7305 and 7314?

The grey (7305) and blue (7314) models of VacuAide are of similar weights, sizes and have the same maximum level of suction, but they vary significantly in other factors. The blue model operates much more quietly than the grey model, features a more precise pressure gauge and dial and can drop down to 50mmHg suction – allowing it to be used in neonatal application. The Blue unit also comes with a more discrete bag, which allows it to be operated in public without the need to take out the device.

Does My Purchase Include a Catheter or Yankauer?

Is This Device Supplied with a Warranty?

  2. Turn adjustment knob/dial to maximum
  3. Place thumb over inlet on suction unit

If you find the suction machine not reaching the above mmhg then something in the unit is causing a problem and would need to be looked into. If the unit reaches 550+mmhg then there is a problem with the accessories.
